Youtube has been a breeding ground for popular musicians like Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, and Macklemore, who are all making top hits on the radio. While their catchy tunes are still getting stuck in our heads, a new group of musicians are making their way to the top.

One fan favorite is Shawn Mendes, who has been gaining many fans over the past few years, he just released his new album; Illuminate, on September 23. It’s hard to believe that Mendes used to make song covers for contests, which later led to his climb to fame as one of the best artists of 2016.

Another group who has made their way to fame from Youtube is the acapella group Pentatonix. While this is not the typical group of singers you hear on the radio everyday, they have been making their way up the popularity tower since their appearance on the Sing Off. Not to mention their impressive Star War’s performance at the American Music Awards last year of 2015.

“The are one of if not the best acappella groups out there,” choir teacher Trey Hickey said.

“They went from a little group making music videos, to becoming widely known around the world,” senior Marian Lafferty said.

In the end more and more musicians have been making their way from worldwide viral videos to worldwide tours.
