Togas, lectures and service. What do these have in common? College? College.
Post-secondary school, whether it be at a community college or a four year institution, is promoted heavily throughout high school. But, is the experience and the education important?
“You go to college because it is easier to get a job and to have a good education. You meet a lot of new people there and it gives you experience of being in a new and changing environment. Like high school but on a bigger scale,” junior Brenda Herman said.
“College is important because it is the beginning of the rest of your life. What college you attend, your grades and choices you make will all affect your future career,” junior Lauren Slack said.
“College is important because it can help you be more successful in life. It helps you extend your education past a high school level. Also, most job opportunities require a diploma,” sophomore Karley Rosenquist said.
Despite 96 of the 97 of the Sequoits polled felt college is critical to one’s future success, one lone Sequoit felt otherwise.
“It isn’t,” sophomore James Pogue said.
