Why Do People Grind At Dances?
Grinding, the famous high school dance style
November 3, 2014
If anyone has ever been to a high school dance, they know what grinding is. It is probably the only dance style high school students perform at high school dances. People really don’t know why people do it though, despite noticing so many students just kind of started dancing like this.
Why do people dance like this then?
Antioch Comunity High School senior Bella Hoffman said, “I think it’s just the generation we are in today, and we have accepted this dance as our own style.”
Grinding has become very popular over the years and is more common than ever at dances. It’s strange to think what our new dance in the future is going to be, or if grinding is ever going to die out. Grinding is just a way high schoolers have been dancing Everyone follows along and starts grinding on each other, but people don’t even know why.
Senior Courtney Rieb said, “People don’t know any other ways do dance.”
Ready to get your grind on? Before you are, don’t forget that the school doesn’t condone this style of dance and a teacher or administrator may tell you to stop. And, keep in mind, it isn’t the prettiest thing for them to see either.
