Vernon Hills Latest Team to Fall to Lady Sequoits
The girls team kept their winning streak alive by going 7-0.
The girls varsity basketball team is ranked sixth in the state. That ranking was on the line, as the girls took on a good team in Vernon Hills. The girls rose to the occasion with a win, extending their winning streak to 7 games and remaining undefeated.
The girls team came out and never looked back. The leading scorer was Amy Reiser with 20 points. Her twin sister, Ashley Reiser, added 12 points to the Lady Sequoits 60-45 victory over the Vernon Hills cougars.
“The most exciting thing this so far this year is that we’re 7-0,” Ashley said. “Last year we lost two early games in the season and were 5-2 to start it off.”
Alexis Duehr, a four-year varsity player and captain, talked about how playoffs are on their mind, but the team cannot get too ahead of themselves.
“I am very confident about making it far in playoffs again this year,” Duehr said. “We are taking it one game at a time though, so we need to go out and get the next one.”
The Lady Sequoits look to keep the streak alive in their upcoming game against the Round Lake Panthers on December 4.
