Varsity Lacrosse Profile: Gino Riforgiato

With his signature already on the dotted line to play Division II lacrosse at Saint Leo University, senior varsity lacrosse player Gino Riforgiato is looking to make an impact and leave a lasting legacy on the District 117 lacrosse program. He wants to be remembered as a good leader and hopes to help bring the varsity lacrosse team to a winning season.

[I want to] have my last season as a part of the team to be the best that it can possibly be,” Riforgiato said. “I’m hoping to leave my mark on the program and come out with a much better record than last year.”

The rest of the team has the same goal as Riforgiato, a winning season, but they also want to improve as players. Riforgiato strives to refine his skills and become the best player he can be in high school before playing in college.

“I’m really excited to join a nationally rated program,” Riforgiato said. “I’m trying to get playing time as a freshman in college so I’m working very hard for that. I had schools from every division recruiting me so, at the end of the day, it wasn’t really a matter of division, it was rather academics and feel for the coaching staff.”

Riforgiato undoubtedly has a bright future ahead of him in his athletic career, as well as in his academics. Although lacrosse is the main reason he chose to attend Saint Leo University, Riforgiato liked how highly rated the university was academically. Riforgiato views his academic success just as, if not more, important than his athletic career.
