Varsity Baseball Profile: Austin Delgado
Austin Delgado is a varsity baseball player for Antioch Community High School who is a hard-throwing right-handed pitcher and speedy outfielder who, in the summer, plays baseball for the Illinois Lightning 18u travel team. Delgado started playing when he was four years old and he loves everything about the game of baseball. Delgado affects his teammates and coaches by always bringing a positive attitude to the team. He loves the competitiveness of the game of baseball and lives for the game. Austin’s speed gives him the edge over most outfielders, making it easy to cover a lot of space in the outfield which is crucial for getting outs and makes the job of the pitcher much easier.
“You never know what can happen until the last out in the last inning,” Delgado said. “Baseball is a huge passion of mine and is one of the things I live for.”
Delgado’s teammates enjoy playing with him due to the fact that he always lifts the spirits in the dugout during a loss and keeps everyone from going overboard during a win. The team really enjoys having Austin, not only in the outfield, but also off the field as a leader.
