Professional soccer players, who are the best in their country not only play on one team, they play on two. The best players will play on their designated club team against one another, but when the World Cup and the Olympics come around the best players in the country will come together to play on a national team. Some of the teams are very dominant and the players come together well, while other teams have a harder time. These are the top 5 best women’s national soccer team.
1. USA
The United States women’s soccer team has been consistently ranked either first or second for the past fourteen years and first seven out of the past eight years on the FIFA Rankings. Since the year 2000, the women’s soccer team has won four CONCACAF Women’s Championships, three olympic titles and one world cup. The team has been led by two-time olympic gold medalist and 2015 and 2016 FIFA player of the year Carli Lloyd, along with world cup and FIFA Women’s World Cup Champion Becky Sauerbrunn.
2. Germany
The National German Women’s soccer team throughout the past fourteen years has either been ranked first or second just opposite of the USA. Germany has won four European Championships since the year 2000, along with two World Cup Championships in 2003 and 2007. They spent the last season with a new coach Steffi Jones, who won four out of the team’s seven games this past season. Previous coach Silvia Neid coached the team from 2005 to 2016, winning two European Championships and two Women’s World Cup titles.
3. France
The French Women’s soccer team has been successful over the past ten years. The women’s team placed fourth in the World Cup in 2011. Along with making it to the quarterfinals in 2009 and 2013. The team is led by captain Wendie Renard who also plays for the Olympique Lyonnais club.
4. Canada
The Women’s Canadian soccer team has been extremely successful since 2010 winning a CONCACAF Championship in 2010, along with Olympics bronze medals in 2012 and 2016. The team also placed third in the World Cup in 2003. Coach John Herdman is currently the head coach of the current Canadian team. He has been the coach since 2011; before that, he was the coach of the New Zealand Women’s soccer team.
5. England
England’s women soccer team has been on the rise over the past couple years. The team was the UEFA Women’s Championship runner-up in 2009, along with placing third in the World Cup in 2015. In 2013, England ranked eleventh in the world according to FIFA, until they jumped to sixth in a matter of a year in 2014.
