The Sequoits Get Revenge on the Bulldogs
Varsity girls basketball wins a tough game against the Wauconda Bulldogs.
On Thursday, January 18, the Antioch girls varsity basketball team went up against the Wauconda Bulldogs at home.
The Sequoits started off the first quarter strong with junior guard Piper Foote scoring for the Sequoits. Antioch gained a good lead on
Wauconda throughout the first quarter, scoring frequently and being defensively strong against the Bulldogs. During the second quarter, the Sequoits kept up the momentum ending the first half 34-15 in favor of Antioch.
“Tonight we went into the game wanting revenge from the last game we played against Wauconda and it really showed on the court,” Foote said.
As the second half began, the Sequoits let up a little but that still wasn’t stopping them from their end goal of beating the Bulldogs. Antioch stayed in unison with each other throughout the quarters and it showed on the court.
The game ended with a score of 57-49 with the Sequoits coming out on top.
“We started to let up during the fourth quarter,” Foote said. “In the future we need to continue to be a defensive and offensive threat throughout.”
While the Sequoits are happy with their win, they understand what work must be done in order to get stronger.
Come support the Sequoits on Tuesday, January 23 as they head to Grayslake Central to compete against the Rams.
