The Return: Part 3?
Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose out with a torn meniscus on his right knee.
One of the most explosive players in the National Basketball Association (NBA), three time NBA all star award, one time Most Valuable Player, Derrick Rose. Chicago’s own has suffered three knee injuries from 2011-2012 season with a torn Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), missing the entire 2012-2013 season. He then returned in the 2013-2014 which is when he teared his meniscus in his right knee. On Monday night, Feb. 23, the Bulls played the Milwaukee Bucks, with the 87-21 win. However, the team lost Rose to a injury. A MRI of Rose’s knee showed that Rose has the same injury and same ligament that was torn and fixed in the 2013-2014 season.
“I’m very mad that he is injured again because we need him if we want to go deep in the playoffs. We need the vintage Rose if we want to take on good teams. I think he will return but not this year. He will never return to his MVP state. Instead of investing in Rose we need a solid point guard like Rajon Rondo and a good 3 point shooting guard,” junior and varsity basketball player Robert Bednarz said.
The once great point guard from Chicago was averaging 21.8 points per game in the 2011-2012 season, 15.9 ppg in the 2013-2014 season and 18.4 ppg now in the 2014-2015. It takes six to eight weeks to fully recover from a torn meniscus. Rose underwent surgery and is expected to return in about six weeks.
