The Importance of Physical Therapy
Physical therapists help over 750,00 patients a day, some of those patients include students and Antioch community citizens.
Physical therapy is a common place for athletes and non-athletes to strengthen their muscles. Therapy will help a great deal in improving fitness and health for a person at any age.
Physical therapy is a dynamic profession to where it brings out the best physical capabilities.Therapists not only work on the ability to reduce pain or restore function, but also try to prevent the loss of mobility before any serious injury occurs. It is the therapist’s job to restore and maintain his/her patients’ health every single day. According to the American Physical Therapist Association, therapists diagnose, restore, and prevent symptoms or impairments for more than 750,000 people every day in the United States.
To establish the diagnoses and take care of the given situation, physical therapists must evaluate and combine ideas to form a theory of the injury. After the evaluation, therapists determine if the injury is within their common practice. If they believe the patient can take care of the workouts at home, they will supply the patient with the specified materials and workouts with a procedure on how to do them. They will then ask for a future date to evaluate their progress and will then modify any necessary workouts needed. If the therapist believes the patient should come in regularly they will give the patient different workouts with more intense materials that the common household may not have.
Therapy is also important for patients with a permanent disability. Therapy teaches the patients how to cope and function with their disability since they will deal with their given obstacle for the rest of their life.
Patients who understand the need for physical therapy are more likely to achieve their desired results. Communicating their expectations during treatment causes motivation to reach a common goal of going back to a stable and normal health. It is always important to keep the patients actively participating in the rehabilitation process. The process will be quicker and the patient is bound to see better results sooner.
“I have been going to Colletti Physical Therapy since September because I tore my ACL and meniscus. I already have my full range back and will start running hopefully by the beginning of January. Which is a lot sooner than the doctors were assuming. I would not be where I am today if it were not for physical therapy.” senior Zach Rundle said. Rundle was a captain for the 2014 football team at the time of his injury.
