The Ideal Bowling Bag
What is usually kept in a bowling bag is a mystery, until now.
For the most part, what a bowler brings to their tournaments is unknown. Some can assume what is inside, but it is pretty much a guess after a bowling ball and shoes. On the website Perfectbowling, it breaks up the supplies into three parts: must haves, good to have and could use.
Some must haves include grip tape, a bowling towel, a ball cleaner and a grip sac, while all may seem a little odd, they are essential for a bowler. Junior Samantha Knab always keeps these things with her.
“I make sure to keep my puff ball with me in case my hands get sweaty because every bowling alley is different,” Knab said.
Some things that are good to have include easy slide, which is a powder to help the thumb move with ease, a shoe brush, which helps the shoes slide, and shoe covers that one puts on over their bowling shoes when they have to leave.
A few things that are good to have, but are not necessary are the tape insert tool to help apply tape to the inside of the ball, an accessory carrying case, a round rasp file if you need to make adjustments the the thumb hole and a wrist support. Junior Taylor Comer always makes sure to keep her wrist guard with her.
“I tend to flick my wrist too early, so having the guard helps with that,” Comer said.
Just like any sport, each bowler is different with what they keep in their bags.
