The End of The Big Big Bang
Elegance, grace, power and determination. As legs fly through the air with every kick and turn, the dancer’s heart beats sync with the beat of the music.
The 2014-2015 Antioch Community High School dance teams season has come to an end. The girls tried to end with a “Big Big Bang” at sectionals, but were not able to make it to the IHSA State tournament. Even with this tough loss, the team has many great memories to look back on from this season.
“This season, this team has grown each and every day. More than half way through competition season, I decided to pull in a brand new routine, which challenged the girls as individual dancers and as a team. They improved, learned new skills and learned the true definition of teamwork. That right there, is true success,” varsity dance coach Amy Shouse said.
The dance team performed well and put everything they had into their last performance, along with the rest of them.
“We had an amazing performance and did the absolute best we could as a team. Our new routine was very technical and our team executed it very well,” Shouse said. “I am extremely proud of the team and their performance. I hoped the results would have reflected that, but regardless, they are still true champions. The teams skills were not the only thing that grew throughout the season. The team was able to grow close together and make an environment that seemed just like one big family.”
