A 74-36 victory brought the girls varsity basketball team to an unbeaten 10-0 record.

Junior Ashley Reiser lead the team with 24 points for the Sequoits.

“It’s always fun scoring a lot of points,” Reiser said. “Yes, scoring points wins games, but defense wins championships, and I could not have scored all those points without the incredible defense my teammates played.”

Incredible defense only briefly explains how the Sequoits played. The girls shut down Wauconda’s offense throughout the game.

The game flew by as the team kept making more and more baskets. The girls definitely showed the Bulldogs why the Sequoits are ranked first in the North Suburban Conference.

Although the girls are undefeated, they stay humble and prepare for each game without jumping ahead of themselves.

“We prepare by taking it one game at a time,” Reiser said. “We never look ahead to future teams we’re playing, we direct all of our focus towards the one team we are going to play next.”

This is the third Sequoit win in a row where the girls defeated their opponent by over 20 points.
