TEDxYouth Brings New Ideas to Lake Villa
Teens across the country deliver bright, new and exciting ideas to motivate future generations.
Several students across the country graced Lakes Community High School’s stage on Saturday, Nov.15. LCHS hosted one of the many TEDxYouth talks across the nation. TED is an organization devoted to spreading new ideas and covers fresh and unique topics daily. TEDxYouth is an event for middle and high school students to share short talks to inspire other youth around the globe.
Not only did students from different high schools from across the country
share their ideas with the county, but fellow Sequoits spoke and performed at the event.
Freshman Kathryn Downey said, “I was very nervous, but after getting up on stage it was almost like second nature. The energy and the vibe up on stage and the area is so great.”
Downey shared her passion for science and astronomy and spoke about the next giant leap for mankind. Junior Taegan Gandolfi also took the stage and performed “Knights of Cydonia” by Muse on the violin.
ACHS staff members, such as science teacher Colleen Buzby and Principal Bradford Hubbard, came to support Downey and Gandolfi, but also attended to grasp the passions and ideas that other students across the nation shared.
“I loved the event, I was very impressed with the students and their ability to talk about some really unique ideas and see their passions come to life.” said Hubbard, “I would really love to see this event come to Antioch.”
