Taylor Swift recently announced her Eras Tour, a combination of all her albums released since 2006 as it is the most recent since she debuted her album Reputation. Swift has not been on tour since 2018, causing an uproar in Swift’s fans across the globe.
On Nov.1 2022, Swift announced on the live television broadcast “Good Morning America” that she would be going on tour. Later, social media was flooded with posts revealing who was also attending the tour alongside her. Not only is Swift being on tour exciting enough, once hearing the stars she is bringing along, no one will want to miss out. “I’m beyond excited,” senior Kinsey Delgado said. “It’s been four years since I last saw her and so much has happened within these last how many years. Being able to see the six albums she’s released since quarantine all in one concert, makes me happy. It’s going to be an amazing opportunity for old and new swifties to see her perform live.”
Everyone wanted a chance to see this pop star, making the tickets irresistible. Swift announced that through the company TicketMaster, fans would be able to sign up and purchase tickets a few days in advance compared to the general public.
“I had my friend help but she signed me up on my chrome book at school,” Delgado said. “I was not willing to wait and give up the chance of getting presale.”
Numerous fans waited for hours on the TicketMaster website and still walked away empty handed. TicketMaster then decided to halt the sale to the general public on Nov.18 after chaos during presale. During the presale, around 2 million people were led onto the site which caused several glitches throughout the website.
“It took a long time to get the tickets,” senior Jamie Gale said. “Ticketmaster shut down for a bit so the selling of the tickets had to stop. The site was on pause for about three to four hours. Another problem was that many people got kicked out of the website during the sale, [therefore] many people’s spots in line got moved further and further back.”
Later, TicketMaster announced that there was a high demand on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet the demand of consumers. Many fans still do not know who to blame for this madness as they point fingers at the company or Swift herself.
“It’s really sad and unfortunate,” Delgado said. “So many people who deserve to go won’t get the opportunity until Swift performs later again in the future. I can’t even imagine if I didn’t get tickets. I would probably be heartbroken since she is someone I look up to in so many ways.”
Numerous individuals across the United States are disappointed due to this entertainment chaos. Individuals would miss an opportunity of a lifetime to see her in person.
According to Distractify, people are disappointed in this mess, as individuals are upset, some are receiving numerous tickets, while others are not even able to get one ticket for being a loyal follower of Swift.
