Supportive Grandparents

Everyone has someone special in their life. Most, if not all, students have someone that they look up to, such as actors, athletes and other celebrities. Yet celebrities never play a special role in people’s lives. Relatives do. Most times it is your parents that play a special role in your life, but so do grandparents. If you think about it, there is probably something that your grandparents have done for you, something special, that really impacted you. It could be emotional support, financial support. Junior Benjamin Druse is one student who’s grandparents played not only a special role, but crucial role in his life.

“My parents split shortly after I was born. I moved between both of their houses and most of the time neither were there, so the majority of my time was spent with my grandparents. They taught me a lot of the things I know now and I thank them for that,” said Druse.

In this case, Ben’s grandparents acted as his actual parents, and played a more important role in his life than either of them could. Joshua Malak also understands grandparents can be supportive and important role models.

“Grandparents really act as role models for their grandchildren. They taught me the value of hard work, and how to achieve at anything you do,” said Malak.

Josh and Ben are both students that have been supported by their grandparents. For some, they act as parents, for others, they act as much needed emotional support. And there is most likely an important that your grandparents have played in your life. So next time you see them, thank them.
