In the wake of the mass killings in Syria, President Obama weighed in on a military strike of limited scope, while trying to remain neutral in Syria’s civil war.
Antioch Community High School Senior Dante Schiavo said, “I think we should make a contract with the rebels, supply them with weapons, medical aid and in exchange they pay us back with oil. If they in any way, shape or form void this contract we will step in and make them a trust.”
While some students felt there is a need for American intervention, others find staying out of the issue more purposeful.
Conner Olsen, a sophomore at Lakes Community High School, said, “would you like to lose your family? There are people, such as me, who have brothers in the military. They are pledged to serve and protect the country, not go and invade other countries.”
As the administration waits to decide their stance, Secretary of State John Kerry said the use of chemical weaponry against opposition strongholds was undeniable.
