Soccer Captains Lead the Way Once Again
Great leadership allowed the Boys Soccer team to another great season.
The boys Sequoit soccer team had a very successful 2015 season. After starting the season off with a mix of wins and losses, the team soon pulled everything together. By mid-season, the boys were well on their way to a regional championship.
The first bracket of the regional playoff proved to be no problem for the Sequoits as they beat Woodstock North with a score of 6-0. The regional championship was nerve racking as the Sequoits were down 1-0 against Harvard in the first half. The boys pulled it together and scored late in the second half. After two 15 minute over times, the Sequoits came out victorious in the penalty shot outs.
Although the Sequoits gave it their all, their season ended in the semi-finals with a 2-1 loss to Carmel. Even after the loss to Carmel, the team reflected on their season, describing it as successful. The teams success was all due to a solid team effort from everyone.
The soccer team could not have made it as far as they did without the great leadership. Team captains and seniors Lucas Semitka, Jordan Keller and Danny Brito led the way, helping the team perform like a unit.
“They are just good role models on and off the field. And when you have good leaders, you bring in all the underclassmen into that family atmosphere, and they have really good people to look up to. It makes the soccer part of it easy,” said head coach Marni Polakow.
Leadership and support from each other led the Sequoit boys soccer team to have a great 2015 season.
