ACHS is taking action to obtain a language lab for students taking a World Language class. “A Language Lab is a computer lab for languages that students  use to do audio activities and speaking activities,” said World Langue Department Chair  Kristina Wilson.

Whether or not the school will receive one is still unknown. Today, members of the school staff, such as Wilson, went to other schools and took a look at their labs.

“A  language lab allows a teacher who stays at the front to see everyone, to send out activities to students that they are ether listening to and recording or they can par them up and talk to some in the class or do it  themselves,  it is something that will be helpful for the teacher to listen to just those students and grade them more accurately,” said Wilson. “Also it will help a lot when  it comes to AP exams and grading those. The lab will better prepare students for the exams and have the do activities that are beneficial to their test prep, it will benefit the whole world language program.”

There are many benefits to Antioch having its own language lab to both students and teacher. But the question, if Antioch is going to receive one or not, is still unanswered. However world language staff is looking forward to creating a better learning place at the school and the language lab would be an amazing leap forward.
