Sequoits Volleyball Starts their Season Strong
A strong defensive outing and an aggressive offense lead to a lady Sequoit victory.
Girls Varsity volleyball kicked off their season at home the other night, August 22 against Richmond Burton. The lady Sequoits went home happy. In the best of a three set match, the Sequoits made it a quick night in the gym and a long bus ride home for the rockets.
With efficient net-play and a fair share of blocks, the girls were able to escape the first match with a 26-24 win. The girls dominated every aspect of the game in match number two with a 25-11 win.
Strong defense was played by the whole team. Junior Brianna Vettese, was more than excited to get her first action in a Varsity game and walk away with a win.
“I knew going into the game I’d be playing at a higher and more intense level but that just made more excited” Vettese said.
While the high intensity level was definitely not too much for Vettese, who contributed to the Sequoit victory.
“I think the most important factor that led to a win tonight was our teamwork, energy, and ability to never give up. Towards the end of the first set we were down by little but that did not stop us from getting up, we just fought back even harder to get that win” Vettese said.
According to the Sequoits if things keep rolling like they did last night the team will have a very successful and exciting season.
