Sequoits Take Down Panthers

The girls bowing team goes on the road and wins their first meet.

The girls bowling team had their first meet on the road, traveling to Lakes Bowl, where they competed against the Round Lake Panthers. The Sequoits won by 168 pins and had an amazing overall score of 239. Junior Lynn Michalec led the team with a great game in which she scored 197 points. They finished the night with a great attitude and high energy; that was what ultimately led them to win.

“The cheers we do and how we are watching each and every frame really helps,” junior Maya Schon said. “I think the way my teammates cheer me up even if I don’t pick up my spare really encourages me to keep trying.”

Schon and her teammates did everything right and even when they had faults, their teammates were there to pick them up. Junior Allison Kane also had a great meet. She started her first two games with a strike in the first frame and hit a lot of solid spares during the meet. Everyone bowled to their best ability and all had their fair share of fame.

“The girls bowled a lot of strikes and picked up their spares,” Kane said.

There was a familiar and faint feeling in the air; it has been so long since the previous season, but the girls adjusted to the lanes and got their first win of the year. They went home with a positive attitude and were excited to compete again, but they know they have to practice for improvement. They are also ready to qualify to state again, but this time they are hungry to win it all.
