Sequoits Swing to Victory
The varsity girls field hockey team beat Naperville North in overtime.
The varsity girl’s field hockey team squared off against Naperville North on Wednesday September 4, at the stadium and held their heads high both before and after the game. The team has had quite the season so far, holding their own in St. Louis and coming back home to take another win for their record.
“We have a lot of room for improvement,” senior Sarah Smith said. “When we all communicate and work together, we compete and play really well.
The biggest play of the game was a goal scored off a corner kick in overtime. It was scored by senior captains Smith with the assist and Kaylee Griffin with the goal, which resulted in a win for the Sequoits. With the experience of coach Terry Dewing and a positive work ethic, the team’s goal this season is to qualify for playoffs.
“Our past year is behind us,” junior Hailey Webb said. “We need to focus on one game at a time.”
Come support your Sequoits at their next game on Monday, September 9 at Lake Forest Academy as they take on the Scouts.
