Sequoits Stick it to the Knights
Girls track and field defeats Grayslake North for another conference win.
The girls track team faced the Grayslake North Knights in a dual meet and ended up coming out on top with a 72-68 victory. The Sequoits swept the board in all of their relay races: 4 x 100, 4 x 200, 4 x 400 and 4 x 800. Only allowing the Knights to take home minimum points in those events. The athletes in the field events rose to the occasion, taking home first place for shot put and discuss. Overall, the girls took one of the top three places for each event.
Sophomore Alexis Johnson has been running track since the eighth grade and participates in the 4 x 800, the 400 and pole vault. This track meet was one for the books as Johnson felt the most pride she has all season.
“For the first time this year, I got off the ground and almost to seven feet in the air,” Johnson said. “It was an incredible feeling.”
The girls hope for continued success in the Belvidere North Invitational this Friday, April 21.
