Sequoits Start Running
Boys cross country kicks off season with a quad meet.
The boys cross country team started their season on Wednesday, August 24 against five other schools: Carmel, Grayslake Central, Grayslake North, Lakes and Richmond.
Antioch finished 3rd place out of the six teams. All the boys ran hard but, one runner stands out the most. Freshman Charlie Smith dominated the course and got 5th place out of the whole meet. Not too far behind was Kevin Vettese and Alex Besson. The team ran great, but Max Barton said there is always room to improve
“We all worked hard, but we are gonna keep on training and working hard to improve our times,” said Barton.
Hopefully the team keeps working hard and does better than last season because it did not go the way they wanted to. The team looks like they have potential and have some great runners.
Let’s hope they can turn it around for this season. These strong men will keep working hard with the goal to get some individuals to qualify for state.
We will just have to wait and see how our boys do as they continue this season.
The boys’ next meet is Tuesday, August 30 against Richmond.
