Sequoits Fall to the Wolves
The Sequoits put up a fight but still failed to come back from a 3-0 deficit from Prairie Ridge.
The girls varsity soccer team competed against the Wolves from Prairie Ridge on Wednesday, March 14.
Going into the game, the Sequoits were in hopes of coming out with a win but knew they had to put up a fight since Prairie Ridge is usually a big contender for the state competition.
“We knew they were a strong team, especially after we played them last year,” senior Danielle Brose said.
In the first half, the Sequoits started off strong, having multiple scoring opportunities but, due to the defense of Prairie Ridge, they were unable to take a lead over the Wolves. With 20 minutes left in the first half, Prairie Ridge was able to move the ball through the Sequoits’ defense and score their first goal. Going into halftime, the Sequoits trailed Prairie Ridge 1-0.
“We were playing well and had many opportunities but it was just an unlucky day for our offense being able to finish and score,” senior Ella Roberts said.
In the second half, the Sequoits brought out their aggression, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough as Prairie Ridge scored another two goals, making the score 3-0 with ten minutes left in the game. The game ended with the Sequoits trailing the Wolves 3-0.
