Sequoits Fall To the Bulldogs
The Sequoits took on the Grant Bulldogs and came up short in the second half.
The Sequoits varsity boys basketball team played a tough game on Tuesday, January 30 and came up short with a score of 64-56. High scorers of the night included junior Dan Filippone with 27 points, senior Andrew Hare with 11 points and junior Ben Nauman with six points.
The boys started off strong and fast in the first quarter, leading 17-11 at the end of it. There was strong leadership by the starting five and they moved the ball up the court quickly and efficiently.
Unfortunately for the Sequoits, the Bulldogs were able to push a little harder and came out one step quicker in the second quarter, leaving the Sequoits scoreless for a majority of the quarter. The Bulldogs then took the lead right before halftime with a score of 25-24.
The Sequoits, however, did not give up there and continued fighting until the end. At the end of the game, the Sequoits hit a few quick shots, but it was not enough to come out on top.
Senior Alex Larson feels there is some room for improvement for the end of the season.
“I think we need to work on finishing at the basket and playing the whole game as a team,” Larson said.
To be efficient in basketball, the team needs to work together and communicate well. If the team does this, they will be much more successful.
The Sequoits finished the game with a score of 64-56. The Sequoits are now 8-11 for the 2017-2018 season. The boys’ next game is this Friday, February 2 at Grayslake Central at 7pm.
