Sequoits Fall to Lake Zurich on Senior Night

Despite the tremendous effort put forth by the Sequoits, the boys come out behind in their last regular season game.

The varsity boys basketball team took a tough loss to the Lake Zurich Bears for their Senior Night. On Tuesday, Feb. 23. Despite the hard work and dedication shown by the Sequoits, the boys were not able to overcome the strong Bear offense and ended with a final score of 67-43, falling to the Bears.

The Sequoits worked hard to stay in the game, but the constant Bears buckets proved to be the Sequoit’s downfall. The seemingly easy rebounds and 3-pointers taken by the Bears certainly finished the game for them, but in the end the Sequoits worked to every whistle and made the best of their game.

“I’m proud of how my team played tonight under the circumstances,” said senior Trevor Koch. “Lake Zurich is one of the best teams in the conference, so it was a tough game but we definitely played to the best of our ability.”

Before the varsity game, the ten seniors, along with the senior dancers and cheerleaders, were recognized for their Senior Night. The athletes and their parents were announced and honored for their years of dedication towards their sport.

“It felt great being recognized for our hard work as seniors,” said senior captain Danny Brito. “It was nice to see some of the guys that work hard in practice to get some minutes tonight.”

The boys will play next on Wednesday, March 2 in the regional semi-final game.
