The boys warm up for their upcoming meet.

On Tuesday, September 26, the Sequoit boys cross country team traveled to Central Park and defeated the Knights with a score of 23-33.

Helping to drive the team to its fifth conference win, and a record of 5-0 in the conference, was sophomore Charlie Smith, winning first place between the two teams. Juniors Eric Hart and Mikey Volkmar also placed in the top five in the meet.

“I was excited for today, the rain before the meet cooled me off and helped to let out my nerves,” junior Eric Hart said, “taking fourth overall was really cool for me because I had never really taken that high of a place before.”

As the Sequoits came into the meet against the Knights, they were confident that they were going to perform well.

“Going into the meet, we were very confident,” Hart said, “we had the stats on all of their runners, and we knew that they would be difficult, but that we were the better team.”

After this win, the Sequoits have their sights set on a successful Harland Invitational on Saturday, September 30 at Antioch’s home course.
