Sequoits Are Sectional Champions Once Again
Another A-Town take down as the Sequoits girls basketball team defeated Johnsburg, 65-29.
The Sequoits faced the Johnsburg Skyhawks last night for the sectional championship. The gym electrified with fans waiting to see an amazing game; the Sequoits were ready for the game and willing to put everything on the line to win.
The Sequoits had fast and crisp passing under the basketball as seniors Ashley Reiser and Erika Galimore helped to give the lead to the Sequoits at halftime, 27-13.
During the second half the Sequoits were not letting up. Junior Taylor Feltner made a three pointer shot increasing the Sequoits lead to 30-13. Outstanding defense was showed by sophomore Piper Foote throughout the whole duration of the game.
The two senior twins Ashley and Amy Reiser, both lead their team to victory by showing enthusiasm and communication on and off the court.
“It has been and amazing journey with my sisiter,” senior Amy Reiser said. “I am super happy that we are able to spend or last year together leading the team and enjoying our last year together. I am proud to be a leader of this team alongside my sister.”
Once the final buzzer rang after the fourth quarter it was a scream of joy by the Sequoits. 65-29 was the final score and the Sequoits were now sectional champions.
“It feels awesome,” Amy Reiser said. “Tonight was one of our best team games and we are one step closer to our goal (state) because of this game that is super exciting.”
The Sequoits now play Monday at 7 p.m. at River Forest against Chicago Marshall. Come watch the Sequoits continue their journey to state as they play for the super-sectional title.
