On Jan. 6, the Lady Sequoits basketball team took on the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees at Zion-Benton high school in a crossover game. Despite the strong performance shown by the Sequoits, the shots did not fall where the ladies hoped, with a final score of 59-40 Zion-Benton.

The Sequoits started the night off well by controlling most of the first half and being down by just three points at 26-23 at halftime. The second half included strong drives to the basket by junior Ashley Reiser and many three-point shots by sophomore Taylor Feltner, but was countered by the Zee-Bees clear ability to transform Sequoit turnovers into easy points.

“We did not shut down the lane and we need to pick up our defense,” said junior Erika Gallimore. “I’m bummed because we wanted to go undefeated, but we are definitely going to pick up our defense and move the ball on offense for the next game.”

The Sequoits look to bounce back on Saturday, Jan 9. when they take on the Grant Bulldogs at Grant High School.
