Secondary Instagram Accounts on the Rise
Finstagrams have became popular within teenagers used as goofy instagram accounts.
The new trend on social media are fake Instagram accounts. Dubbed “Finsta” accounts, they are funny, secondary Instagram accounts that anyone can make. Creating a “Finstagram” is gaining popularity among teenagers. Teens use this as an intimate, comedic account on the app Instagram.
Users of Finstagrams tend to get creative when it comes to usernames. For some, the name of the user gets incorporated someway in the username, the names are quite crazy and can be inappropriate.
“[My Username] needed to have my name somewhere in it so people gave me ideas and then I picked the one I liked and changed it a little” senior and Finstagram user Sarah Schwantner said.
Finstas are used mostly for pictures that teenagers do not want to post on their original Instagram account. Many users post their imperfections or post pictures and videos to make fun of themselves. The followers and people following the Finsta accounts are normally quite small. Only close friends seem to be the only followers of a Finsta account.
“Finstagrams are intimate online spaces intended for an audience of friends, with the number of followers purposely kept in the low double digits,” SafeSmartSocial.com said.
Finstagrams are fun accounts but they can become dangerous. Bullying can arise when finstas are created, and it is not recommended to leave “Finsta” accounts public. In addition, many parents or guardians are aware that their child is an owner of a Finstagram. Finstagrams are a fun way to post hilarious pictures of yourself for close friends to see.
