Second Annual Hope on the Move Run Raises $1200

Sophomores organize charity event to support St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

On Saturday, sophomores Monica Wilhem, Stephanie Richardson and Kaylie Card teamed up to host their second annual hope on the move run/walk.

This event was first created as the girls’ “genius hour” project for their freshman global studies class. They began it to help raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Last year, it was so popular the girls decided to try to repeat their success this year.

This year, the event raised 1,200 dollars for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. Around 50 people attended the event to run/walk around Tim Osmond Park and be covered in colored powder.

“I am just so proud of all of the hard work and dedication the girls have put into this event,” social studies teacher and staff sponsor Lauren Krickl said.

According to Krickl, Wilhem is very excited about the success from this year and looking forward to the future of the event. Wilhem is hoping to make the event bigger and better next year.
