On Saturday, Feb. 6, The regional finals was hosted by the Sequoits in the north gym. The wrestling team performed exceptionally well during the competition, even shocked some players at their performance.

Senior Jacob Gross said, “At the beginning of the season it wasn’t looking too good. We were getting pinned a lot, there wasn’t a lot of work getting done. But we pulled it out at regional and did a very good job.”

On the other side in the individuals tournament, Gross and three others, Senior Nathan Dlugopolski, Junior Patrick Schoenfelder, and Junior George Bessette placed during the regional tournament, and all took first place in their respective weight classes.

The four wrestlers and the team as a whole will be moving on to the sectional finals this weekend

Schoenfelder said, “Right now the goal is to win state, so it’s just another tournament you have to get through. Just to accomplish your goal.”

Come visit the wrestling Sequoits this Friday at 4:30 pm and Saturday at 9:00 am in the north gym and help cheer on the wrestling Sequoits as they make their way through the sectional tournament, and eventually on to state.
