The making of a Latin King.

Review: My Bloody Life

Yasmin Lara, Department Editor

“My Bloody Life” tells a tale about a troubled teenager that fights for his life day by day. Like many troubled teenagers living on the streets of Chicago, the main character looks for people to call his family and a place to call home.

This novel by Raymundo Sanchez gives a sense what it feels like to not feel a sense of belonging anywhere. Raymundo had personal experience with gangs and he expresses his feelings in writing.

Getting out of a shooting alive and back to the safe zone is a one in one million chance that one is willing to take for love. Not everyone is as fortunate enough to have a caring family to be there for them every step of the way.

It is a hair raising roller coaster from page one. When reading “My Bloody Life,” the reader will be able to make connections like no other.  As Raymundo tells his personal experience from the day he was born in the back of a garbage truck to the moment when he joins the Latin Kings, it is nothing but a thrill.

Your adrenaline will pump through your veins as he is faced with life threatening situations. Your imagination will go wild as each page is turned. There is some romance, comedy, but most of all violence. The first hand experience Sanchez had, makes it your own.

Take a ride on the wild side and experience what its like to live the life of someone else through the pages of a book.
