REVIEW: Between A Rock And A Hard Place (127 Hours)
When trapped underneath a rock that won’t move, what are you willing to do in order to survive?

“Between A Rock And A Hard Place” is an autobiography of Aron Ralston’s awful, life-threatening experience.
Ralston was hiking one day throughout canyons in Utah, enjoying the scenery like any ordinary day. Suddenly, while he was out on his adventure through the canyons, eight miles from his truck, a loose boulder fell and landed on his arm. With barely any food or water, and just the resources he had in his back pack to use (which was not much because he was expecting to return home that night), he had to survive for six days (127 hours). Ultimately, he cut his arm off in order to release himself from the life threatening boulder which was too heavy to move and too jammed to budge.
While Ralston is going through what no man or woman ever should, his mother was worried sick. She has no idea where Ralston has gone to or where he my be in the vast Blue John canyons. As Ralston is trapped underneath this boulder, his life flashes before him. Ralston has visions of a child that looked much like him. Although he was low on food and water and may have been hallucinating, he thinks the child he saw was his son he ended up having years later. While going through this experience, Ralston decides to take pictures of the experience incase he survives to share with the world, or for people to see if they find his body. These pictures can be found in his book.
While trapped under the boulder, Ralston has to break his arm with surrounding rocks and cut off his arm with the tools in his backpack. Making it through this and feeling like fainting with the loss of blood, Ralston escapes and tries to make his way home to later be rescued by a helicopter. Ralston then receives a fake arm and returns home safely. After this experience, he shares it with the world so everyone can witness what he went through. The book was so great, that a motion picture was created afterwards starring James Franco, which was later nominated for many awards. This is a great book and makes one realize what they have and makes oneself more thankful. I give the book a 7.5/10 and would recommend it.
