REVIEW: American Sniper

American Sniper may just be the biggest movie of 2015.

“American Sniper,” directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Bradley Cooper as Chris Kyle, hit the box office hard with $200.1 million made in a few short weeks. In this film, Texas cowboy Chris Kyle joins the Navy Seals and goes to serve his country to later end up being one of the most lethal snipers of all time. This movie strikes home with patriotism and gives a great depiction of what our soldiers are going through at this point in time.

The film shows examples of the hard decisions soldiers must make and all the sacrifices they take to protect our country.

War is taxing on the mind more than the body and the main character, Chris, feels as if his home is in Afghanistan rather than stateside with his wife and two children. He deploys and partakes in four tours in order to protect as many men as he can and to avenge his fallen brothers. With over 160 confirmed kills, Chris then became the most wanted man in Afghanistan.

With the perfect amount of drama and action, this movie is a must see. I personally give it a 9 out of 10. Bradley Cooper provides great acting and he sells himself as a true patriot. His depiction of Chris Kyle was played to perfection. Gaining 40 pounds to play the part, Cooper gave this film his all.

My personal favorite parts of the movie are the scenes where Chris Kyle must decide whether or not to take a shot due to every situation being different. It shows the stress on a soldier pulling the trigger, knowing it brings an end to another life and if they should or not. Sometimes the situation may lead to shooting a child due to the child threatening the life of a comrade.

As the movie comes to an end, it becomes a remembrance of Chris’ life, because during the making of the film, the real Chris was tragically murdered while trying to help a fellow Veteran with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

This movie could not have been a better representation of Chris Kyle’s heroism and his great devotion to this country.

I strongly recommend everyone to go and watch this movie.
