The 2014-2015 Antioch Varsity Cheerleading season focused on one simple acronym: T.W.O., Take What’s Ours, and the squad certainly did just that.
The cheerleading squad welcomed a new coach, placed in the top three at all most every competition, won their North Suburban Conference division championship, and captured an IHSA Sectional Championship, which qualified the team for sate.
“It felt amazing. I was so excited to go to [state] with my team and perform in front of a big crowd,” said sophomore Ashley Mosquera, a two-year varsity cheerleader.
Despite many members of the school tuning in to watch the cheerleading teams state performance in the classrooms and a group in Bloomington cheering in person, the cheerleaders still were just shy of making it to the second round of the IHSA State competition.
“I’m really excited for next year! I can’t wait to see what skills we will learn, the incoming freshman and to cheer in front of a crowd for football and basketball season,” Mosquera said. “I have a good feeling we will make it to state again, my coach works hard to help us do our best to be great.”
The team will graduate seven seniors, including newest team member and crowd and social media favorite, Lukas Whipple, Hayley Krizanovic, Jessie Maloney, Marissa Grant, Melissa Nettgen, Morgan Musich and Kacy Jonites.
