These cute pumpkin Krispies taste just as good as they look. They can be easily made in 20 minutes, and the ingredients are basic and cheap.
“I loved making them, not only could I see fall, but I felt like I was tasting the season as I ate them,” senior Easton Herbon said.
They are great to make for a last minute occasion. The Krispies are perfect to bring to a Halloween party or for your family’s Thanksgiving. Contributing to fall festivities, the edible pumpkin treats are a great add-on!
Ingredients:
- ¼ cup butter
- 1 bag large marshmallows (works best with mini marshmallows).
- 6 cups Rice Krispies
- Red & Yellow Liquid Food Coloring
- Rolos
- Green M&M’s
- ¼ cup cooking oil in a bowl (to keep from sticking to hands)
- Parchment paper
Instructions:
- In a large pot, melt butter over low heat.
- Add marshmallows into the pot and stir until completely melted and combined with butter
- Remove from heat, add several drops of yellow food coloring, mix it together, then add a drop of red at a time until you reach your desired orange color. (About 6 drops of yellow and 2 drops of red).
- Add Rice Krispies, and stir together until all Rice Krispies are coated.
- Coat both hands in cooking oil, and roll Rice Krispie mixture into baseball size balls. Set on parchment paper. Add more oil to hands before you start a new ball.
- While they are still warm gently push the rolo into the top of each pumpkin to create a stem, and add a green M&M to imitate a leaf.
- Allow to cool, until firm.
