Flowers and trees are starting to sprout, and a warm spring breeze is finally making its way to Antioch. A quick glance into the halls will reveal that the number of people sporting a casual pair of shorts or a colorful dress is beginning to spike. With this change in attire, there are many colors that people recognize for the season of spring.

Usually, colors that are often associated with the Spring season are pastels. Pastels are light and uplifting, which is similar to the relief the season brings. These colors can range from pure white to light pinks to creamy purples, but each leave their own form of colorful effect.

“When I think of spring colors, I usually think of pastel colors like turquoise and light pink,” junior Valerie Pokorny said.

“I usually see a lot of pastel colors like pinks, blues and greens,” senior Mariel Almaria said.

While pastels are the common form of color, darker colors are also present during this season. Typically these colors are paired with a complementary light color to contrast and brighten the outfit.

One final characteristic of Spring fashion is floral designs. This is not a surprise for Spring, because this is the season where the flowers start to bloom and release the pretty colors we associate with the season.

“From colors that are bright and vivid to those that convey a sense of earthiness, our top ten colors for Spring 2017 are reminiscent of the hues that surround us in nature,” writer Laurie Pressman from Pantone Color Institute said.
