On the night of Thurs., Jan. 23, the North Gym was filled with hundreds of excited faces. At 6 p.m., eighth grade students and parents arrived at Antioch Community High School ready to learn about all of the sports, clubs, classes and extracurricular activities offerred at ACHS.

As students and their parents made their way around the variety of tables set up, all parents had a little something to say about their future Sequoit.

Gary Barton said, “I would love my son to sign up for everything, as much as possible because you don’t get any other four-year experience to do something like this.”

Barton also mentioned that he would be happy to see his son be a part of our cross country team here at ACHS.

The Marguerite family also said, “It would be great for our son to be involved in golf and the civil club.”

Many parents heavily expressed that their advice for incoming freshmen would be to study hard, get involved and to remember to have fun.

Although this was a new, scary experience for the incoming 8th graders, the evening went off without a hitch. The class of 2018 looks like a promising group of students who will offer pride and hard work in everything they do here at ACHS.
