Oregon Militia Leaders Arrested
Ammon Bundy and others confronted by authorities.
In a gunfire confrontation, authorities arrested Ammon Bundy, the leader of an armed protest group, on Jan. 26. Bundy and his group took over a federal property in Oregon. During the arrest, the gunfire between authorities and the group resulted in the death of one of the protestors. It is not clear who fired first.
After the arrest, the F.B.I. stated that Bundy was one of six arrested and that one individual of the group had died. According to VF NEWS, the deceased man is group spokesman LaVoy Finicum, identified by Nevada State Assemblywoman Michele Fiore. Fiore, a supporter of the Bundys, wrote on Twitter that he was “murdered with his hands up.”
The group was supposedly en route to a community meeting when stopped in traffic by police. The six that were arrested are faced with felony conspiracy charges.
