Jeffrey Petersen attended Antioch Community High School from the fall of 1997 to the spring of 2001.
Petersen played football and baseball all four years here. He also took part in National Honors Society and spoke for the dare program.
Peterson said, “ I enjoyed these activities, My experiences in these activities made me realized that I wanted to become a teacher, you know working with the younger players.”
When Peterson came back to teach he also decided to coach. He now coaches freshman football and freshman softball.
Petersen said he hung around with the good kids, the ones that were in AP classes, sports, and honors classes. This affected him because he never got in trouble.
Petersen is on his ninth year working here at ACHS, he has coached all these years.
This is the only school he has taught at. Although he did not plan on coming back to ACHS, when he graduated from University of Illinois, he did.
“ I was lucky that there was seven open spots that year [2004],” said Petersen.
Social studies department chair John Walker knew that he was graduating that year, Walker contacted him about the job very earlier in Petersen’s job search.
