Antioch Community High School sophomore Jack Holway was recently diagnosed with cancer. Holway was on the ACHS lacrosse team last year and will be back in the spring to take on the 2022 season. He also played for the ACHS football team in his previous years of high school. However, there is so much more to Holway than these sports.

Q: How has your recent diagnosis of cancer affected your involvement in sports?
A: “It has affected it a ton. I found out that I had cancer right after I had played in a lacrosse tournament. Now it has taken away my whole winter season and a couple of games from my spring season.”
Q: Who is your biggest role model, and why?
A: “My role model is my dad. He always works really hard, but he also finds time to hang out with his family.”
Q: Where do you hopefully see yourself in 10 years?
A: “I don’t fully know, but maybe teaching, or doing something that would [help] kids our age. Something that would impact them [in a good way].”
Q: What is your dream college?
A: “I don’t really have a dream college yet, but it would be super cool to go D1 or even D2 for lacrosse.”
Q: What is your biggest goal for your high school career?
A: “Just to get good grades, enjoy high school and make friends that I’ll remember and still be friends with in 20 years.”
Q: Who is your favorite musician, and why?
A: “Baby Smooth because he has a good rhythm. He’s also an underground rapper, so his music isn’t very overplayed.”
Q: What is one thing you would tell incoming freshmen?
A: “Do your work; it’s not cool to always mess around. Everyone has matured more in high school. Definitely join a sport, and go to the games; go to school dances, and make sure to put yourself out there. There’s always a friend group out there for you.”
Q: What is your favorite sports team and player?
A: “My favorite team is the Pittsburgh Steelers; my favorite player is Najee Harris. I also love Hobart lacrosse because they are super fun to watch. I also know one of the coaches, so it’s super fun to be able to watch him coach at such a high level.”
