Archer Statue

The 2014-2015 school year was the hundredth year at Antioch Community High School. This memorable moment for the school and the community was celebrated throughout the year by students and staff. Most recently, a statue was dedicated to the school for reaching its hundredth year. The statue is located right outside the front entrance of the school.

ILC Clerk and Centennial Committee Member Kathleen Stewart said, “We really liked Lakes’ Sculpture, and thought it would be very fitting for our exciting 100 year celebration.”

The artist who made the statue was chosen by the centennial committee. The committee contacted a few artist and had them submit a piece of work for the statue and chose the one they believed was best for the job. ACHS alumni, Dan Kalb was chosen to be the artist to construct the sculpture. He then collaborated with the committee to reach the message they intended to get across.

Stewart said, “It [The sculpture] represents ACHS graduates. They have the world at their feet and can shoot for the stars for whatever their hopes and dreams are. We have the archer pointing to the North Star as their guiding light. Our hope and dreams for this symbol for our students is they will be world changers.”

The centennial gift is something that’ll stand forever in front of ACHS, representing hopes and dreams for many students.
