Recently, Antioch residents saw the opening of a renovated movie theater and Dairy Queen downtown, both of which are very popular with both the student body and adults.
The manager and owner of Dairy Queen, Ginger Ipsen, is an Antioch local who renovated Dairy Queen with her husband to achieve her goals of making the business even more successful.
“We’ve made the whole inside all new,” Ipsen said.
The local Dairy Queen received new tiles, new walls and new kitchenware for the business.
“The rear pavilion is a popular hangout area for kids who come after school, sports teams and families,” Ipsen said.
With Dairy Queen’s current popularity, the new renovation may make it become an even bigger success.
Overall, Ispen is very proud of what she has done with the new Dairy Queen.
The new movie theater, located in downtown Antioch, is fully renovated and reopened, showing movies for all ages on two different screens..
“We have put $800,000 into the reopening of the theater and also can hold special events to people who want to have one,” said Cindy Kottke, the manager of the new theater.
The theater has two screens, a balcony where movie-goers can sit and a snack shop including a self-serve butter machine. Special events such as business meetings, baby showers, New Years Eve parties and many more can be held at the theater.
Outside of the theater, there is a walk of sponsors including Antioch Community High School, and Antioch business like Something Sweet and Raymond Chevrolet Antioch.
The main screen is able to play 3D movies and on March 19 “Insurgent” will be screening. Tickets for the film will be sold for $10.
