On October 30, Apple released a newer version of their Airpod headphones called Airpods Pro. These Airpods have a new design compared to the older headphones that Apple users have become accustomed to. According to Apple, their new headphones are lightweight and engineered for fit and comfort. The headphones come with three different sizes of flexible silicone earpieces.
¨AirPods are the best-selling headphones in the world,” Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller said. “The one-tap setup experience, incredible sound and iconic design have made them a beloved Apple product, and with AirPods Pro, we’re taking the magic even further.”
The Airpods Pro have a higher sound quality and immersive sound, with the options of either blocking out other surrounding noises or being able to use the new transparency mode which allows outsides sounds to be heard. The quality of the audio is clear and they have longer battery life.
“I think they’re kind of ugly,” sophomore Caitlynn Gsell said. “I like the transparency mode on them, but won’t buy them unless my [old] Airpods die.”
The new Airpods design is not a favorite to some people, but the performance of them has improved. They have a hands-free “Hey Siri” feature being able to give Siri different commands from the Airpods. With Siri, it will automatically speak messages someone receives, but Siri knows not to interrupt if there is music playing. The Airpods allow you to share audio with someone who has a pair of Airpods themselves. Even though there are several new features, the look of them may stop some Airpod owners from purchasing.
“I own Airpods, but I don’t think I will be purchasing the Airpods Pro,” junior Logan Phillips said. “I think they look ugly; they are too short and weird looking.”
Despite the fact that many people dislike the look of the new Airpods Pro, they have many new features that set them apart from the original Airpods.
