NBC Reporter Fired
Long time news anchor gets the boot.
After two decades of anchoring for NBC News, anchor Matt Lauer has been fired after a sexual misconduct allegation. Lauer was one of the network’s highest paid hosts.
The allegation was from a female colleague accusing him of inappropriate sexual acts during the 2014 Sochi Olympics. However, this is not the only instance. As days go on, more and more reports of misconduct are released.
Lauer has become the second morning NBC host to be fired over sexual misconduct allegations. They recently fired Charlie Rose after several women came forward and complained about his behavior.
On November 29, Lauer’s previous morning show companion, Savannah Guthrie, released the news on the Today Show.
“For the moment, all we can say is we are heartbroken,” Guthrie said. “I’m heartbroken for Matt. He is my dear, dear friend, and my partner and he is beloved by many, many people here.”
Lauer joins a growing list of popular influencers that have been recently accused of sexual assault by people they have worked with. Other figures include Harvey Weinstein, Mark Halperin and more.
Although so many figures have been terminated from their positions like Lauer, it seems to be the biggest way to reveal the truth about some perpetrators in the industry.
