Music Department Dominates at Contest
The ACHS music department sends its members to Harvard to compete.
ACHS music department packed into buses and drove to Harvard High School on April 15 to compete in the yearly contest.
The band and orchestra performed at Harvard High School, and the choir performed across the street at Jefferson Grade School.
Scoring high across the board, all of the choirs and the highest band and orchestra received a one rating. The contest is based on scores, and a one is the highest score possible for the contest.
“It was chaotic, but we still did our best and we performed well,” junior orchestra member Mariel Almaria said.
According to Almaria, the music department overall did very well despite what the scoring said.
Though not all bands and orchestras scored a one, they still competed well and are looking toward the future.
