Movie Review: Collide
MINOR SPOILER ALERT – Action/thriller movie “Collide,” starring Nicholas Hoult and Felicity Jones, made $1,512,824 on its opening weekend, according to Box Office Mojo.
Although it received a 22 percent from Rotten Tomatoes and a 39 percent on Moviefone, this action-packed thriller is sure to make any viewer’s heart race.
In the movie, a heist is originally planned in order to pay for the girlfriend of the main character’s surgery, but the heist goes horribly wrong after an unplanned wrong turn, and main character Casey Stein (Nicholas Hoult) is chased by the ruthless drug lord Hagen (Anthony Hopkins).
Some technical aspects of the film took away from its better elements. The movie’s erratic camera angles often seemed random and too rapid, and especially in a chase scene in the height of the action. All though having a decent plot, this movie did not live up to its full potential due to the overuse of camera angles and the need for more depth.
Action throughout this movie paced very well and is consistent to keep the viewer interested. While the movie had a lot of potential, it fell short in fulfilling what it could have been. Many scenes that could have been enhanced and gone into more depth just needed that little extra to make this movie.
