September 14, 2014
She sings, she acts, she twerks and now Miley Cyrus is stepping into the wonderful world of fashion and art. Cyrus debuted her new accessories collection, named “Dirty Hippie,” during designer Jeremy Scott’s Spring 2015 at New York Fashion Week on Sept. 10.
Anyone who follows Cyrus on Instagram has been unknowingly getting sneak peeks of the collection, the eccentric star has been posting pictures of neon beaded necklaces and bracelets all summer. The collection itself looks like jewelry one would wear to a rave. It’s filled with neon beads, toys, cotton balls, gifts from fans and marijuana paraphernalia. Along with jewelry, the collections features handmade sculptures and pedestals.
The accessories are certainly bizarre, and as much as they may seem like random items thrown together, they are a true expression of art for Cyrus. In a recent interview to V Magazine, Cyrus described how she believes her art is a “metaphor for her life,” representing all of the bad things that have happened to her, and how she has managed to make them into good things.
Cyrus said her art is just like her life: “instead of letting it be junk, I turned it into something that made me happy,” Cyrus said to V Magazine.
What’s next? Cyrus said she is looking forward to learning new things once her touring is finished in October, as well as trying out directing and animating. One thing is for sure, Cyrus will continue to raise eyebrows and take the world by storm for years to come.
